Frequently asked
Questions
Can I try Cockpit Pro before buying?
Yes. You can download and use Cockpit Pro on any non-public development or staging environment without a license. Take all the time you need to evaluate the features before purchasing.
What does "per project" mean?
One Pro license covers one production domain/website. You can use unlimited development and staging environments for that project. Need multiple production sites? Each requires its own license.
What happens after the first year?
Your license never expires. After year one, the optional €99/year update fee gives you access to new features and updates. Without it, your current version keeps working forever.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. If Cockpit Pro doesn't meet your needs, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. No questions asked.
Do you offer discounts?
We offer 50% off for verified non-profits, open source projects, and educational institutions. Contact us with proof of status to receive your discount code.
Can I upgrade from Core to Pro?
Absolutely. Simply purchase a Pro license, download the Pro addons, and add them to your existing Cockpit Core installation. All your content and settings remain intact.
What are the server requirements?
PHP 8.3+, a web server (FrankenPHP/Apache/Nginx), and either SQLite or MongoDB. Cockpit runs on shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, or Docker. No special extensions required.
Can I use Cockpit with my frontend framework?
Yes. Cockpit is headless and provides REST and GraphQL APIs. Use it with Next.js, Nuxt, Remix, Astro, SvelteKit, or any framework. Check our documentation for integration guides.
How do I install the Pro license?
After purchase, you'll receive a license file. Simply place it in your Cockpit root directory. That's it — all Pro addons will be automatically activated.
Can I migrate from another CMS?
Yes. Cockpit's flexible content models make migration straightforward. Import your content via the API or use our CLI tools. We also offer migration consulting for complex projects.
Does Cockpit scale for high traffic?
Yes. Cockpit is lightweight and efficient. Combine it with caching, a CDN, and static site generation for virtually unlimited scale. Many enterprise clients serve millions of requests.
Can multiple team members use Cockpit?
Yes, with no per-seat fees. Create unlimited user accounts with fine-grained roles and permissions. Control exactly who can access, edit, or publish content.
What AI features does Autopilot include?
Autopilot connects to OpenAI for content generation, rewriting, summarization, and image creation. Generate blog posts, product descriptions, translations, and more — directly in the editor.
How does environment Sync work?
Push content, assets, and schemas between development, staging, and production. Selective sync lets you choose exactly what to transfer. Never manually copy content between environments again.
What can I do with Personi?
Create content variants for different audiences, run A/B tests, and schedule content changes. Show different content based on user segments, geography, or custom rules.
Do I need all Pro addons?
The Pro license includes all addons, but you only activate what you need. Enable Autopilot for AI, Inbox for forms, Lokalize for translations — mix and match based on your requirements.
What support is included with Pro?
Pro licenses include priority email support with typically same-day responses on business days. We help with installation, configuration, and technical questions about Pro features.
Is there a community for help?
Yes. Join our active community forum and GitHub discussions. Get help from other developers and the Cockpit team.
How often are updates released?
We release updates regularly with new features, improvements, and security patches. Pro customers with active update subscriptions get immediate access to all new releases.
Do you offer implementation help?
Yes. Our team at Agentejo offers consulting, custom development, and implementation services. Get in touch to discuss your project.
Why choose Cockpit over SaaS CMS?
No monthly fees, no per-seat pricing, no API call limits. Pay once, own forever. Host on your infrastructure with full data control. SaaS alternatives like Contentful can cost €300+/month.
How is Cockpit different from WordPress?
Cockpit is headless and API-first — built for modern frontend frameworks. No themes or plugins to maintain, no security vulnerabilities from a public-facing backend. Pure content management.
Is Cockpit really free forever?
Cockpit Core is MIT licensed and free forever. We're committed to open source. Pro addons fund continued development and provide advanced features for professional teams.
What if Cockpit doesn't work for my project?
With the free Core version and Pro trial on dev environments, you can fully evaluate before committing.
